Welcome to National Lutheran Campus Ministry, Inc.
For more than a century, Lutherans have believed that the years students spend on campus matter, for faith, for vocation, and for the shape of a whole life. National Lutheran Campus Ministry, Inc. exists to help make sure that ministry has a place to stand.
Who we are
National Lutheran Campus Ministry, Inc. (NLCM) is an independent nonprofit corporation that stewards resources on behalf of Lutheran campus ministry across the United States. Our roots go back to 1907, through the predecessor bodies of today’s Lutheran church, and we have served campus ministry in our present form since the 1970s.
Over the decades, NLCM has helped local campus ministries secure the buildings and places where students gather, worship, study, and are welcomed. Today we continue that work by managing a portfolio of investments and property instruments held with congregations and campus ministry organizations nationwide, and by supporting ministries through capital funding and loans.
How we work
Our investment income, not the sale of properties, is what sustains our support for ministry. We work closely with LuMin, the campus ministry network of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, to see that resources reach the places where they can do the most good, while remaining a separately incorporated organization with our own board and governance.
When a local ministry faces a change, whether a building sale, a move, a new partnership, or a holy closure, we work alongside its leaders to honor the past investment and carry it forward into the future of campus ministry.
Looking ahead
We are in a season of renewal and planning, with the hope of strengthening support for Lutheran campus ministry for generations of students to come. A fuller website is on the way. In the meantime, we would be glad to hear from you.
